Dept of Social Development - HRSC Building (Pretoria) prevents their employees from served with subpoenas.

On 22/02/2023 I was accompanied by Police Officer Ngkweng to the Dept of Social Development at HRSC Building (Pretoria) in order to serve a subpoena on one of their employees. The receptionists were not helpful, they were evasive and did not even want to disclose when the intended recipient would be at work. The police officer asked to be transferred to their HR department and they were able to give us the recipient’s supervisor’s extension, but he also did not pick up the phone. The police officer could tell that the receiptionist/front desk were being evasive and trying to protect their colleague from being served with a subpoena despite the law allowing same. Disgusted and gutted!
