Why do we still contribute to UIF

My maternity leave started on the 4th of April but due to my medical condition I could only apply in May, went with all required papers then was told to go back Workforce was also due to do a payment schedule and employment confirmation (later to find out the worker was the one who was supposed to do the letter of confirmation). When I came back I submitted and all was well.

Then you wait for that 15 working days hayi you still have to do payment request I did, while doing a follow up that was when I found out the employer was supposed to find that confirmation of employment, my money was released but it's pending due to that letter (fail to do their job correctly) Oka then the letter was requested but my question why do I still have to wait for that 15 working days again?

I am currently renting and I couldn't pay rent, kept telling the landlord I am waiting for UIF payment. Unfortunately due to fail of payment from UIF which we contribute every month with no delays or problems I was evicted with my children last night 😭😭😭😭

Why are we still paying UIF if at the end of the day your whole full maternity leave period you won't get any cent and it's not like you are borrowing this money or it's money from their salaries (at that time every month end they get a full salary so they don't care about the problems we encounter) I really am failed by our department of labour and going on social media and looking at how people complain about UIF and not paying it's really sad. What do they do with our money WHY do they fail to pay on time

As we speak I asked the neighbour to please take me in and my kids cause I have no where to go
