UIF paymaster delays

I made a UIF claim and all documents had been reviewed and approved. Then everything was submitted to the paymaster. At this point, the paymaster simply has to just make the payment. It has been a month since then. After calling, I am told that there is a backlog caused by the week long December holiday.

My question is, how does a 7 day or so holiday cause a delay of well over a month? Also there is absolutely no way to call the people from the paymaster side of UIF, so they can hide behind the fact that we cannot call their managers to enquire. This is very disappointing given that everyone pays UIF on time every time.
