UIF - Non-payment

I received UIF when I was pensioned off in 2009. I thereafter started working again for my son-in-law up to 31 July 2015 during which period UIF contributions were deducted from my salary. I was unemployed since 1 August 2015 up to 31 December 2015. When I claimed UIF, I was informed that I was already paid the full amount due to me when I was pensioned off.

I have now started working again half-day and since I cannot claim UIF any longer when I become unemployed again, I was under the impression that I do not have to make any more UIF contributions. I was however informed that I have to make those contributions, even though I cannot claim and further unemployment benefits when I do become unemployed.

This is totally unacceptable. Why should I contribute to UIF when I can no longer claim? It's the same as paying for an insurance policy, but receiving no benefits whatsoever in exchange for my contributions.

I might mention that I am a widow, almost 66 years of age and have to support myself. So what happens if I become unemployed again?
