Uif claim stays on send to assessor

I app**** in march 2021 for maternity benefits. When i phone they say they have recieved all documents and its been sent to assessors. I have to wait 7 to 10 days. I have been hearing this since april and nothing is happebing. Why do we pay uif if we dont receive our benefits when we need it?
