The sad reality of being a South African

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE FUND. With the purpose of INSURING you have a FUND when you are UNEMPLOYED. You pay your 50% every month, it gets deducted before your account even sees your salary. Your company pays 50% before they pay your salary. So when you need it the most what do u do? You either visit a labour department branch at 05:00 till they open at 09:00 and finally see a consultant at 12:00 (there are no chairs or shelters while you wait in the sun) women with their babies on their back, people like me with epilepsy in that condition, I saw a man almost pass out and after seeing a consultant at possible 12:00 they tell you that your payment will be made in 3 weeks you walk out satisfied and at ease. 3 weeks pass and nothing, 3 months pass and nothing. You think back to your nose bleeding under that sun and it was all for nothing. You call a call centre just to get told it's for information purposes and they have no access to the system so they would know nothing about your claim and they can do nothing about it. They have no contacts with any other department that can actually assist so basically the call centre is of no use. Please help me understand why UIF exists and at what point is enough actually enough? Hard working people have to go through all that for their own money? I app**** online November 2019 and I've visited the department of labour for enquiry and guess what? I still have not been paid out after confirming all my documents have been recieved. Some people need to feed their babies, some people need to pay their rent. Can the DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR NOT SEE THIS AS A PROBLEM TO RESOLVE?! HAVE YOU PEOPLE CONSIDERED ADDRESSING THE OVERCROWDED BRANCHES AND THE SAFETY OF SOUTH AFRICANS?!
