Ridiculous UIF Maternity benefit processes
I'm so frustrated with the department of Labour. The departments process in claiming for matenity UIF benefit is so fustrating. 1. I gave birth 2 weeks ago - C session. and when i visited the home affairs in Soweto Maponya Mall - I had to go back home due to the fact that i was too ill and in so much pain to stand in their long queues with a system that doesnt cater for woman with new born's and are in so much pain due to just recently delivered. 2. Its already painful that i had to go back home without any assistance with my baby who had to be outside and some hours. 3. i decided to do the UIF Filling. completed requested information online and they system was very fast as there was an immediate message for my Gyna to complete a medical note and send it back. 4. Sent the requested note from the doctor only to spend 3 weeks with no response. and when i eventually waited on their call center number for more them 30 minutes, to only be informed by the call center agent that i have to restart the whole procedure of going back to my doctor to complete the doctors note and to go to all my previous employers to complete a UI19 form and send it back to them. 5. i have to start the process all over again. 6. Its very painful and depression that i have been working and paying uif since 2009 and i have never claimed. for the very first time in my life that i have to claim and I'm experiencing such. 7. At first the government labour Law gave employers an option of not being obliged to pay woman who goes on maternity leave a salary. I have to be in a painful situation of not receiving my salary, and having a new born that i have to take care off where i can't afford and UIF is taking thier own sweet time and not caring about the staff we going through while on maternity leave
