Review of Department of Labour – UIF Claims

I am very disappointed with how the Department of Labour has handled my UIF claim. I started the process in June, and now at the end of August I am still waiting for payment.

I submitted a request for payment on 31 July, but every time I follow up, I am simply told to “wait another 5 days” because they are “checking what could have gone wrong.” This has been repeated over and over again, with no real feedback or action. It feels like I am being **** to day by day, instead of being helped.

I needed this money the most during this period of unemployment, but there is no urgency or accountability from the Department. The UIF system is supposed to support people when they are vulnerable, yet my experience has shown the opposite — endless delays, empty promises, and no real assistance.

This kind of service is unacceptable and shows a lack of care for the very people the Department is meant to serve.
