Rejected for UIF claims

I worked for a company in 2020 then I also got another job in 2020 so I left there and the contract was ending in March. Now I went to claim for UIF because my contract has expired in February. My application has been rejected, they said I resigned in 2020 and I can't get the money for the company that i worked for. But the contract has expired. How is this possible
