Pro bono legal aid required

Upon claiming I was told since I've been unemployed before the pandemic my claim period has expired meanwhile SASSA declined my covid grant stating I'm registered with the UIF and should claim from UIF. My question then becomes, should I start working again Why should I be forced to contribute to the fund ?
