Poor Public Service

I app**** for my UIF on the 04 of May 2022 at Labour Randfontein Branch. I was told to came back on the 06 June 2022 to sign for my payout. On arrival I discovered that there was a hold up with my payment (which no communication was relayed to me by the Department ) as one of previous employer had ********** claims made before from Ghost employee. For my pay out to be processed I was told I need to submit three month pay slips from previous employer in question, a bank statement reflecting at least 3 salary payments from the previous employer and letter confirming my previous employment. I had to gather these documents and submit at my own expenses as a unemployed person.

I submitted all the required documents on the 18th of June and I was told that payment will be within 5 days since my application has been capture and at an advance the only hold up were the document.

On the 11th July I received a call from the consultant who initially captured my application and since then I have been pestering about my payment updates to inform me that the person in Pretoria who he was inquiring with about my payment (i think it is someone who was suppose to effect my payment) was on leave hence the delay. It is the 15th July today after 15:30 no payment yet.

I have been making rearrangements of paying my creditors for more than three times now with the anticipation that I would have my payout. The bond is in arrears, school transport fees for my daughter is behind. Internet services has been suspended so is other policies and insurance for home, car etc. Being out of a job due to retrenchment is not easy to cope with as a bread winner. for the past 15 years and more I have contributed to the UIF with out fail but now it is a challenge for the department just give me monies that are due to me and entitled too so that my family doesn't add to the growing number of families who loses their house and forced to go and erect shack in some informal settlement.

Very sad to think of the fact that it is another black person who is putting other black people in this dire situation. someone who was interviewed and promised their passion, commitment of excellent service, dedication and so forth to the masses of South Africa. It will be more embarrassing if the person has post matric qualifications and still don't understand what they are employed to do and their actions how detrimental they are
