Paternity non payment - Dep of labour Krugersdorp

The unbelievable level of incompetence I received at the department of Labour in Krugersdorp blew my mind.

In July 2024, I was on Paternity leave and tried to claim. Just to conclude the handing over of all documents, i was taken from pillor to post which I did as told. I was finally informed that all documents are good to submit and I would receive an sms within 2 months informing me that the money would be on the way.

Months passed and December came so I went to follow up on my claim only to be told that I should return in January because the person/people dealing with paternity claims wasn't around.

In January I took a day off at work and went back only to again be told I should come back and week later which I couldn't afford to do. Every visit was agony as I had to wait in line for a minimum of 2 hours only to be told whatever I was told.

In February 2025 I went back to the department to and now I was told that my documents were submitted under unemployment which was a shock to me as I was still employed at the same company and all documents submitted were for paternity.

I sent an email to as per thier website for escalations and nothing come from that. It is sad how the government treats us when we need assistance in claiming what's ours. I have since changed employers and gave up on receiving my money from them and it is heart breaking.
