I could not apply for COVID19 assistance as I was "already" receiving unemployment benefits - which I understood and was fine with, except they were not paying me. For the last 6 months, I have been unable to find employment and the UIF were not paying. Then about 3 weeks ago I was having a conversation with someone who mentioned they knew someone who worked at the UIF and perhaps he could assist. I excitedly agreed to accept his help, but honestly wasn't expecting much - it is a Government Department after all. BUT, the very next day he called me we chatted - he assisted with getting the right information loaded onto the system and followed the process right to the end and kept me advised on a regular basis. In other words, he was AMAZING! When I thanked him for his effort and professionalism, he responded by saying "it's all just part of the job mam". To the Supervisors, Managers and Executive Level Management of the Department of Labour (UIF) - he is a shining example of what kind of service your department should be giving! The world should be filled with more people like him.
