My wife was retrenched in July last year and has been trying to get her UIF for over a year. She has submitted all the correct documents and phones every week to be told that it is being escalated or that it is with the assessors and payout should happen within a week but nothing happens. Then when she calls back again they say it is being escalated again or some other story such as there is a discrepancy with her TERS payment from October last year but she was not working in October, the person in the UIF department of Labour wants her documentation to be changed which she has managed to do but has still not received any money. This is sheer incompetence or bias and it is impossible to get to anybody who can make a decision or to get information to check whether the TERS issue is genuine or a ploy. Thoroughly disgusted as she has paid UIF for more than 20 years to get shunted around like this without any recourse.
