I received benefits for ONE MONTH ONLY!

I was at the Department of Labour today in Port Elizabeth to sign for my final claim.

When my claim was approved in April, I was told that I would have two payments made to me by the Fund. My first payment I received in April and then I received the date of today to come and sign for my second and last benefit payment.

After sitting in a very long queue for at least a few hours, when I finally got to the payment office. The lady working in the office told me that I am not due to receive benefits because all my funds was paid to me in my first payment.

I was depending on receiving that second payment and when she told me that I have no money due to me, I was more than dissapointed.

UIF is supposed to cover the shortfall when a person is not working. To help make ends meet and also to help look for a new job. Looking for work is expensive. Printing CVs, data to be online all the time, phone calls, faxes, travelling money, etc. How are you supposed to do this when you only receive benefits for ONE month???? ONE MONTH???? That to me is impossible and who finds work in ONE MONTH??

I called the contact centre - waiting 55 minutes in the call centre queue - to be told it's about how long you were working and how many points you have.

I feel like I have been done in by The Unemployment Insurance Fund. Then politicians wonder why voter turn out was so low on May 8th 2019. It's because of poor service delivery from failing government departments - and the Department of Labour has definitely failed in all respects of trying to be of assistance to me.

One benefit payment. I received benefits for ONE MONTH ONLY. I still can't believe it!!!
