How long does it take to receive uif money

I got retrenched in April and started going to Department of labour in June to claim uif. I went to submit my application and supporting documents in July. Already signed twice but I haven't received any money. The 8 weeks has long passed and I am unemployed having dependents as I was the only member of the family working. Now it hard because we rely on my grannies pension and it's not enough it's very upsetting. Kindly assist. Because I can't find employment as well I have been trying to find a job but now I no longer have money to travel for looking for a job.
