Horrible service - lack of accountability

I have been trying to get assistance with regards to my unemployment claim since June 2024 to date. I have sent a total of 212 emails to numerous email address. Made over 50 calls and 12 in person visits at the labour office at Maponya mall.

I have been asked to obtain documents backdated to 2007. I have been turned away from my in person visits told that the system has been offline for long several times. Turned away being told I need the documents printed out not electronically after having submitted it in person prior to that visits several time. I been told assessors is looking at my claim. I’ve been told someone will call and many more excuses but ultimately no assistance.

For a emplyeed citizen that’s okay because there is other forms of income but for a citizen who is unemployed, a single parent, who at this point is faced with being homeless what state of mind am I expected to be in. And what level of patience and understanding am I suppose to apply? I’m certain that there’s several citizens who is faced with the even worse situation because they might not have internet access or even access to a phone to follow up or ask for assistance.

I have cc’d as many people in this email from the department of labour hoping that someone might assist me. As my appeal seems to be falling on deaf ears. If I don’t have assistance by end of this day. I will try social media avenues to see if I maybe let the citizens know and the media what we are faced with maybe I will have some sort of assistance. Cause unemployment in South Africa is significantly high while people who have unemployment is in simple terms failing to do their jobs. So is the right people employed.
