Extremely Poor Service and Delayed UIF Claim
I am extremely disappointed with the Department of Labour’s handling of my UIF claim. My contract with the City of Cape Town ended in June 2024, and I submitted my UIF claim online on August 8, 2024, with reference number C***.
Since then, I’ve faced constant delays and miscommunication. I submitted my documents multiple times due to "system issues." A representative informed me in September that my employer hadn't made UIF contributions. After confirming and providing proof from my employer, including a stamped letter and UI19 form, I submitted these documents again on September 23.
It is now November 25, and I’ve received no updates or resolutions. Despite calling repeatedly, I’ve been told only that my claim has been "escalated" with no further action. I was also advised to visit a labour centre to resubmit documents manually, which I cannot afford as I am unemployed.
This level of service is unacceptable. The online system exists to make processes easier, but it has only caused unnecessary stress and financial strain. I need this resolved urgently.
