Department of Labour Uif claim

In August 2020 I was retrenched from work. In September 21 2020 I submitted an on line uif claim with the Department of Labour through ufiling. I did not hear from them, no one contacted me about the process of my claim. In November I emailed a couple of people including the office of the Minister, uif complaints, ufiling support and Jabu Fakazi. Mamphefo Mbatha from the office of the Minister as well as Sydney Ndhima from the help desk responded and asked me to send outstanding documents which I did. Maphefo Mbatha further responded and referred me to Sindi Ngwenya and Gugu K**** in the Durban office in December 2020. It is February now and I have never heard anything from the people I was referred to. I have since sent numerous emails to find out what’s going on but my emails are never answered anymore. There are no new updates on ufiling except on the day I submitted my claim.

February is the 5th month now since I submitted my uif claim but still nothing. I would like the Department of Labour to contact me and let me know the progress of my claim, to pay me my uif, to be efficient in the way they deal with us as the Public and Citizens of SA.

This is not the first time I’m disappointed in Department of Labour, in 2016 it took the Pietermaritzburg Labour office 4 months to process my maternity leave claim. I know for a fact that I’m not the only one going through this.
