Department of labour Athlone branch

Shocking! That's all I can say. I have been to the Department of Labour in Athlone Western Cape twice already and to this day I have not received any feedback whether my claim for maternity benefits is approved or not. I took down the email address of the supervisor as advised and I quote as per the instructions pasted on the wall in the enquiries section "for any enquiries please email the supervisor and you can expect a response within the next 24hours" it has been 3 days already no response from the supervisor. She told me personally herself on Friday the 10th Feb we will process your claim the same day or by the Monday. Tuesday 14th I received an email from the supervisor that the claim will be processed the Wednesday 15th I just need to send a reminder email. I did exactly that.. It's 3 days later and I am still waiting for a response as I enquired about how long will payment take. I eventually phoned the uif contact center and they forwarded my query to the relevant department. I asked if there were any additional documents outstanding because my claim status says completed by assessor on ufiling and they said it was completed by the assessors so all they need to do is advise if the claim is approved or not..why could they not phone at the Athlone branch to ask what is happening with the claim? It would have made things so much easier.. Nothing is outstanding but when I went to the Department of Labour in Athlone they told me my UI19 for my current company was not uploaded but it was loaded and even handed in on the 3rd of February at this very same branch.. Now I don't know who is not doing their job but everytime it is a different story.. It would be really helpful if people could be hired who actually wants to assist people. And stick to your instructions on the paper pasted on the wall regarding the responding time.. Maybe if they could also answer the phone then it would eliminate having to email constantly to ask for an update.
