Complaint Regarding Delayed Payment Processing
I am deeply disappointed with the level of service I have received from both the Bellville Department of Labor and the Cape Town Department of Labor regarding my UIF claim. My experience has been characterized by delays, incomplete communication, and a lack of accountability, resulting in ongoing frustration and financial strain.
After submitting my continuation of payment form on 8 October 2024 at the Bellville office—where I indicated a change in my bank account details—I was assured the process would take 7-15 working days. However, the payment never materialized. Upon following up on 6 November 2024, I was told my previous form was incomplete and had to resubmit it, with yet another waiting period of 7 working days.
Out of desperation, I proceeded to the Cape Town office, where I was asked to submit a bank statement reflecting the new account details. Despite complying with this request, I was again advised to wait 15 working days, yet no progress was made.
I escalated the matter by contacting customer service, where I spoke with a representative named Andy, who confirmed that an inquiry had been logged but showed no feedback. She promised to escalate the issue as a formal complaint and asked me to wait an additional 3 working days—yet still, no resolution has been provided.
This endless back-and-forth process has caused me significant distress. As someone who is currently unemployed, I depend on these payments to sustain my family. The delays have prevented me from providing for my children, including the inability to afford Christmas clothing, which is deeply disheartening.
This review reflects my frustration with the poor service delivery and lack of urgency regarding my UIF claim. I hope this feedback serves as a wake-up call for these offices to improve their processes, communicate effectively, and prioritize the needs of their clients. I would not wish for anyone else to go through such an unnecessarily prolonged and stressful experience.
