Athlone department of labour for UIF benefits
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the ongoing delays and failures in processing my UIF claim. Despite submitting my application online in November 2025 and following all required procedures, I have yet to receive payment.
Over the past months, I have: - Sent multiple emails to UIF and Department of Labour addresses, none of which have been acknowledged or responded to. - Contacted the UIF call centre repeatedly, where staff assured me that my case would be escalated. However, no progress has been made. - Visited the Athlone branch several times, where staff requested that I prove my online application. After waiting the entire day, my payment request was “magically” resolved in minutes, only to stall again thereafter.
This process has been deeply frustrating, inefficient, and unfair. The UIF online system (uFiling) is unreliable, and claimants are forced to rely on branch visits despite the promise of a digital service.
Most importantly, without UIF payments, I cannot secure work or sustain myself. UIF is intended to provide financial relief during unemployment, yet the delays have left me without the means to cover basic expenses, attend interviews, or pursue opportunities. The system is failing in its core purpose.
I therefore demand: 1. Immediate processing and release of my UIF payment. 2. Written confirmation of the status of my claim. 3. Accountability for the repeated failures of both the online system and branch staff. 4. A clear explanation of why escalations and emails are ignored.
If this matter is not resolved urgently, I will escalate my complaint to the Public Protector and relevant labour unions, as the current situation violates principles of fairness, transparency, and service delivery.
I trust that this complaint will be treated with the seriousness it deserves.
