unabridged birth certificate not out and need to t

I app**** for a passport last month for my son only to be told i need to get him an unabridged birth certificate so as to leave south Africa. now they told me the birth certificate will only come out after 3 months, we are travelling both my wife and son in December for a month .now the passport is out and the unabridged birth not yet, how then can we travel.its so disappointing because we going as a family and we had budgeted for this trip since beginning of year. I had no idea that the abridged birth certificate is not allowed any more. i see on the dha website they say they can issue a letter stating that you have app**** for the unabridged birth certificate but when i called to find out they said only for those who have lapsed the 3 months waiting period. so how then do i get to travel with my son. please assist
