Unabridged Birth certificate nightmare

I am sitting writing this complaint. I first app**** for my daughters unabridged birth certificate in 2014. the documentation was "lost".

I re app**** in 2015. I was then asked to return to the long home affairs ques in Bellville to fill out more forms in 2016. The unabridged birth certificate still did not arrive.

I returned again in January 2017 to begin this process again. I have been on the phone with the home affairs call centre every week. I have emailed every "manager”, contacted every possible number...I have a case number, I have a waybill number.... I have a family trip overseas that will be cancelled if we do not receive the document within the next week.

I just spoke to "Chris " at customer call centre who has told me that I need to return to Home affairs and fill out more paperwork??? "The documents cannot be located", he says to me all nonchalant ...

I don't want to shoot the messenger but then who is responsible for this complete incompetence.

How does it not cause a sense of despondence for our government and the system? Where is the pride?

I'm sorry, I just don't get it! I understand and appreciate the need to protect our children, but then the system needs to work for the people. I have a feeling that my child will be missing out on a magical family holiday this April because her papers are sitting under some cup of cold tea and no one seems to give a damn!

Who do we speak to? there are no direct contact numbers for the department processing the certificates! There is no accountability!

Will the person with character and integrity Please STAND UP!
