Truly Horror Affairs

On the 28th February, my husband and I went to Home Affairs offices in Joubert street, Johannesburg CBD. We saw a notice that said they'll be open until 19h00. We got to the offices at 14h00, had to wait for my husband who left early at work in order for us to go. The queue was outside the building. At 14h45 it started to rain. We had to find shelter outside in order to stay in the queue. After about an hour an half, we were allowed to queue inside the door. We were told to wait by the door, because it's packed inside. We waited for another hour. When we finally were allowed inside, we only sat for about 30 minutes, then we were told that they are offline and not sure when they'll be up and running again!!!! So we really wasted almost 3 hours of just waiting and still being told we cannot be assisted. After having left work early, just to be able to find the offices open. And the poor conditions one has to endure. No one to direct you to the relevant department, no order in the queues but the thing that bothers me the most, how can such a big and important service provider go offline? We know that when you visit home affairs offices you usually will sit there the whole day and still be lucky if you get assisted. How is this possible in this day and age? This is totally unacceptable man...
