Thank you Department of Home Affairs

Many are quick to criticize our Department of Home Affairs, but I had a great experience with them...multiple times since December 2019. I app**** for a renewed passport/new ID card and 2 unabridged birth certificates in December 2019, at the Pinetown Branch, Durban. They were polite and helpful. Although it was over the Christmas period, I surprisingly received a text, 3,5 weeks later, mid January, to say my passport was ready. I then received a text to say some information on my 1 unabridged birth certificate was lost....could I come in again to complete 2 forms, and refurnish them with the missing information? I arrived, showed the relevant text to the security guard at the entrance...he allowed me to enter without any problems. I completed the relevant forms and less than 2 weeks later, received a call from a Miss/Mrs Pillay, to say they had them, but there was still an error on the one. She promised to get it resolved by the Monday and call me again. That’s exactly what she did, and I went in a couple of days later to collect both unabridged birth certificates. She said she would leave them with a Mrs. Scott, which she did! Miss/Mrs Pillay and Mrs. Scott were both incredibly helpful and polite during the entire process. Thank you so much to the Pinetown Branch of Home Affairs....very grateful.
