Terrible service at Department of Home Affairs Caledon
I started my application for retention and citizenship 9+ weeks ago.
Trip 1: I arrive at Home Affairs Caledon and sit in a 2 hours queue, only to get to the front and the lady turns me away and says she can't help me because she doesn't know how to process my documents. She says I must sit and wait for another man to help me. I wait patiently, and after a long time I get up to find this person because no one was helping me at all. He was friendly and helpful. I paid and left. I tried to phone Caledon several times to find out the progress and they just never answer their phones.
I eventually get hold of Mr Williams via email who puts me through to Mrs Davids, only to be told she phoned my mother and said that I had filled in the forms incorrectly. First of all, why not phone me????? Secondly, they phoned my mother about my brothers application, not mine. She is now not responding to any of my emails. How are you meant to get hold of people????
Trip 2: Living in Cape Town, I drive all the way to Caledon (my parents live there) to find out what is going on, only to get there and they have lost half of my forms including my proof of payment. I then have to resubmit all the forms again and the lady there looks at everything and says it is good to go.
It has been 4 weeks now and there is no record of my documents being processed.
I am EXTREMELY disappointed with Home Affairs service.
