Taken for a ride by Home Affairs

<p>On 03/12/2015, I completed and submitted an unabridged birth certificate application form at the Department of Home Affairs in Chats worth, Durban. I paid the required fee of R75, and waited 4 weeks until my next visit to check on the status of my application, but was told that I should reapply as they have no application on the system. Since then I have made numerous calls and made many visits to the department and they have promised to escalate the application but that seems futile as I am still waiting for over a year. I really do not know what to do going forward. I have lost faith in the department and expect a prompt response from someone who actually knows what they're doing.</p>
