Smart ID card not ready after a year of applying

My smart ID card is still not ready after a year of applying. I app**** for my smart ID card in November 2024 and after numerous emails between myself and Home Affairs, all they keep telling me it's been escalated and the verification of my photo and fingerprints needs to be done. How long does an ID card take to finalise? Seriously
