Shocking Service from Home Affairs
We app**** for my husband’s un-abridged birth certificate at the Roodepoort Home Affairs Department. We also app**** for our unabridged marriage certificate at the same time.
We received notification that we could collect the certificates. On arrival to collect, they printed the certificates but….when printing….my husband’s name prints incorrectly. His name is Morné. When printing it replaces the é with a *. The lady at home affairs said, it is because they have very old computers. This happened on both the unabridged birth certificate and the unabridged marriage certificate.
She said she would have to make a comment on the system and would get back to me. It was closing time on a Friday the 26th July 19 and it was clear that all they wanted to do was pack up and go home. I was the last person they were “helping”. I was promised she would contact me. She took my details and said she would call me in the following week and tomorrow it will be sort of a day – then it’s two weeks later and still I have not heard a word from her.
I can’t get hold of anyone as the *** number. It literally just rings and rings and rings. I waited an hour on the line and no-one answered! ☹. I have also tried the district manager on 011 *** - it just rings. I have also tried *** - also just rings. I have also tried Hennie Meyer on *** and *** - again just rings.
I cannot be expected to go and sit in another 3 hour queue at Home Affairs to find out what’s going on with these certificates. Number 1, I don’t have the luxury of time off from work to do this. Secondly I doubt there will be any positive feedback for me.
I also don’t think it’s fair to be expected to re-do my application at another home affairs department. Pay again for the application and pay again to get people to help me to execute and again wait who knows how long for a certificate that is ready to print, but it simply can’t print because of Roodepoort’s old computers.
Please, please help.
I am absolutely desperate. We are on the verge of immigrating and the immigration agents are waiting for this documentation.
I know the spelling at the Registrar is correct. DocAssist has been helping me execute these certificates, so they double checked and confirmed that all spelling is correct. Sadly they can’t help if the computers at Roodepoort Home Affairs are too old to convert é…when printing.
I will drive to a different home affairs that can actually print it for me. But I’m told it has to be printed by Roodepoort as the application was handed in there. But it’s not my fault their systems there are that old.
This is unacceptable. The level of service from Home Affairs is shocking!
