re: APPLICATION OF UNABRIDGED BIRTH CERTIFICATES

My daughter app**** for her unabridged birth certificate in July 2015 in Cape Town. It arrived back with two mistakes. She went to Home Affairs in Randburg, pointed out the errors and re-submitted it. They sent it to their Pretoria offices. I have consequently phoned them on numerous occasions with the reference number that they gave me, all but to be told that they had put it on an escalation process to speed it up. Nine months later we are still awaiting arrival of this very urgent unabridged birth certificate, but to no avail. It has also been the same with both my husbands and my unabridged birth certificates. They made a mistake when capturing our details, and then wanted to charge me a second time to apply for them. I simply refused as it was their mistake!! Why cant we have a system in South Africa, where we can simply do this on-line, to avoid all these mistakes that are made by the employees. How do we get anywhere with this useless system of ours. Is it that difficult that it takes them almost a year to process, something so simple??? I am most dissatisfied with Home Affairs, and hope they can sort out their mess!! Regards Mrs Northwood
