Poor Service Deliver

During May 2019 I app**** for marriage at Roderpoort Home Affairs office. I was married in 2012, divorced in 2017 and re-married in 2019 May. When applying for second marriage, no one explained that my second marriage cannot be processed till the first one is canceled, I the officials took all out documents, included in them was the divorce decree, IDs marriage certificate from the marriage officer. We were told that the process will take about 2 months.

In August 2019, went to the same Home Affairs office for the new marriage certificate but doubt that the old was never cancelled and the new never registered. We were divested but accepted the explanation that the new marriage could not be accepted till the old is cancelled.

On the 19th of December 2019 we went back to apply for the second time at the same office. At this time we were told that the process will still take 8 weeks regardless of the frustration the department gave us, in fact the department did not even recognize our matter, they said there is nothing on their system showing that we ever app****.

Well from the 19th of December till now, the application has not been processed and we are told to wait.

The manner in which cases are handled and the tone used when speaking to the public at the Roodepoort office is highly disrespectful. When calling the call center, the only thing I get is that the application was received and assigned to someone responsible, mine is to just wait. The waiting has been long since the beginning of this process but they are only counting from the 19th that they say it’s the date the application was sent to them.
