Pathetic service at the department of Home Affairs Tongaat

I am writing to share a truly appalling experience I endured at the Department of Home Affairs Branch Tongaat on the 30 October 2025, one that epitomizes the frustrating realities of poor service delivery and a shocking lack of respect for the public. My intention is to expose the unacceptable practices I witnessed and hopefully, contribute to positive change within this critical government department.

My mission that day was simple, to collect my son's identity document. What unfolded, however, was a masterclass in bureaucratic ineptitude and dismissive attitudes. We, along with countless others, were subjected to an unreasonable wait in a queue that stretched for an agonizing length of time. The conditions were far from ideal,we were exposed to the elements, and the reliance on public transport for many, including ourselves, only exacerbated the hardship. The lack of any communication was infuriating. After an extended period of waiting, I approached security, only to be informed that the system was offline.Yet, as I observed the operations of the department, it was clear that other sections were functioning normally. This lack of transparency and effective communication was not only disrespectful but also created an atmosphere of confusion and frustration. However, the nadir of this experience was undoubtedly the interaction I had with an individual identified as Mr. Aldino Subramoney. When I politely inquired about the measures being taken to rectify the situation and to inform the public of the delays, his response was nothing short of appalling. Mr. Subramoney exhibited a level of rudeness, arrogance, and unprofessionalism that I found utterly unacceptable. His demeanor was autocratic, his attitude dismissive, and his behavior a clear violation of any standard of ethical conduct Instead of offering any assistance or explanation, Mr. Subramoney instructed me to direct my concerns to head office, a clear indication of his complete lack of interest in addressing the issues at hand. I understand that circumstances may be beyond the control of individual employees, but his display of such flagrant rudeness and ego was simply inexcusable. To add insult to injury, Mr. Subramoney abruptly walked away while I was still speaking to him, further demonstrating his contempt for the public he is supposed to serve. The core issues at play here are clear Systemic Negligence: A complete failure to communicate with the public regarding service disruptions. Appalling Customer Service: An absence of any proactive measures to assist or facilitate the ID document collection process. Unacceptable Conduct: The extremely rude, arrogant, and disrespectful behavior displayed by Mr. Aldino Subramoney, a clear violation of any standard of ethical public service. This level of service is simply unacceptable. I believe it is imperative that the Department of Home Affairs take immediate action to address the issues outlined above A Thorough Investigation: A comprehensive investigation into the events of the situation that occurred around 14,00 should be taken into consideration Improved Service Protocols: The implementation of improved communication protocols to inform the public of service disruptions and the implementation of better customer service procedures.these situation should be addressed. I hope that this matter will be addressed by the Department of Home Affairs, and to help ensure that the public receives the respectful and efficient service we deserve.
