Pathetic Excuse for a Government Run Service

I app**** at the South African Embassy in Rome for my son's passport in April this year. Right up until 11th of July it was "lost". Neither the embassy nor Home Affairs could tell me where that application went to. Finally after calling a million times from abroad, I was told it was only just received by the Citizenship Department. Two weeks later, I call back Citizenship Department only received it. It can take up to 8 weeks before it is processed!!!!! I had to fly my 14 year old son back to SA because I have to work. Today, the 31st of Citizenship Department. There is NO URGENCY at Home Affairs. I get told every week to call back the NEXT week. One consultant went as far to tell me why don't I fly back to SA and do the application in person. *** do we have embassies for!!!????? Home Affairs, you suck! MEGA TIME! I am ashamed to call myself South African.
