NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!

There is no messed up place and *********** staff like government officials. Getting to the story: Six moths ago I visited the DHA in Johannesburg next to Bree Taxi Rank to sort out my issue with my Identity Documents ( I happen to have 2 IDs with different ID numbers, so I wanted to delete one of them). I waited in the queue for my turn until a consultant called me. I explained my story to the lady who actually adviced me that my ID number that I have been using is actually the one that is being deleted, But I can reactivate it by re-applying and by providing substantiating documents which I did provide. After filling forms, going to the police station to certify and make affidavits, I was sent back to the DHA where I made my ID from, which is in Soweto, also known as 707. Well I did as I was told and the next day (which was the 26th of May 2016) went to the Soweto offices early in the morning.

I got there, I repeated my story, provided the necessary documents and the consultant assured me that the application is for the re-activation of the ID number that I want to continue using. She then adviced me to come after 3 to 6 months to check on the application. Then on the 9th of November 2016, I decided to call the Home Affairs Hotline and enquire about the status of the application before I go to their offices, only to be advised that the ID number that i wanted to re-activate was in fact deleted. I had to ask what was the reason for the application, I received no answer to that. i asked when exactly was it deleted and the consultant said on the 5th of April 2016. I was shocked after learning that because I went to apply for the reactivation right after it was deleted, why wasn't that communicated with me initially when I started the application? If that's not negligence I don't know what it is. The call centre agent advised me to go and apply for a confirmation letter that I'm no longer using my old ID number, I'll be using a new one, which will amount me to changing all my information with my tertiary institution, banks, etc meaning every institution that has my personal information.

I was livid but I had to go and apply for it since i had my drivers licence to sort out, had 3 job opportunities that needed me to submit proof of my application. On the 10th of November I visited the Department in Soweto and I asked to apply for a confirmation letter. I was instructed to pay a R70 fee for the letter, which I did pay. I then asked when will I be receiving the letter. I was told that I must check it between 3 to 6 months. I nearly lost it!!!! How on earth can I wait for a letter for 6 months? Its not like they were going to investigate the matter, all my inforrmation appears on their system, how hard can that be? The man who was assisting me had an offish attitude towards me, when I asked him what was I supposed to do in the interim he blatantly said he doesn't know. I had to ask him whose supposed to know when him as an official of that department doesn't know. He even had the nerve to tell me all procedures are done at their Head Office in Pretoria and they do not have access to their Head Office. What nonsense is that? Not having access to your Head Office? I asked them if they were fine with the fact that they had no access with their Head Office? I was given no response.

In a nutshell, my frustration is the incompetence and the negligence of the DHA officials. The 6 months that I had to wait for the "reactivation" that didn't happen, could've been the 6 months I waited to get that confirmation letter. And yet again, how can a letter take longer than the duration of an ID? That department need to be fixed because they are mesing with peoples lives. I lost jobs due to their incompetence. That's nonsense. No wonder that guy had to hold the hostage with a toy gun, they are ****** reluctant and don't care. Serious measures need to be taken!!!!
