My friends cannot bury her uncle due to Home Affairs being offline in the Western Cape
I am writing this with a broken heart as my friend has lost her uncle and have to make claims using her ID and the Home Affairs is adding to the tracker and stress that the family is going through.
She received a text message to collect her ID and went to Khayelitsha Home affairs, and she was told that the system is offline and that she must come some other time, you know how well government employees are rude and never want to assist, OK fine, she asked if they can get it manually by using her details and the answer was no, we can't.
She woke up the next morning to try at another branch which was Bellville, she was again told that the systems are offline and they cannot assist, mind you, this person needs to bury her uncle ASAP, and the only way she can do that as the financial institution, is to have an ID, she cannot make any movement without the ID. Lastly, she then again went to Somerset home affairs to get assisted, again the system is offline, so I guess the home affairs is offline nationally. This is an institution that the people of South Africa is depending on, this country is a joke serious. We asked for the Temporary ID as our last resort which was not even offered by them, we thought of that.
And the answer was no we won't be able. Dear Home affairs where are we?! This person needs to bury her uncle, she is going through grief and now this?
All I know of it was the time to vote she was going to get her ID in a seconds.
My friend needs to bury her uncle and please sort her out before this gets out of hand.
