Maxi Passport Application

Envisaging the department was in the process of improving services for facilateiting passport and ID applications, having previously been quite successful on both accounts I proceeded to apply for a Maxi Passport online on the 19th July 2022. This in order that I could submit my biometrix via appointment when I reached Cape Town for vacation on 11th August 2022. Thos was not to be as the system would not allow appointment at the indicated FNB branch Greenpoint even after making online payment. In desperation I visited this branch twice both times being told the system was not working properly and it would be better to visit a Home Affairs branch. With assistance from the brance personnel I was able to make appointment at the first available date in Paarl Home Affairs on 26th August 2022. On arriving at the branch I was informed the entire systrm had collapsed and I would have to return on Monday 29th August 2022. After a 2hr wait in the cue on the Monday I was finally able to submit my biometrix. Being concerned that I would not receive the maxi passport on time I requested redirection of it to South African Consulate in Jeddah Saudi Arabia the city where I reside. This was denide .I also paid a fee to continue using my existing passport in order to return to my resident country. Having returned to Jeddah on 11 September without the maxi passport being delivered, I made contact with *** to request assistance. After some time my email was forwarded to ***. To date no response. I have also attempted to contact the manager of the Paarl Branch *** twice with no response to date. I have since received notification from Home Affairs that my passport is complete and delivered to Paarl Branch. Since the system does not allow anyone else other thsn me to collect it, I have no way of doing this as I and in Saudi Arabia. It appears that is no co ordination or even attempt to resolve this issue other than me flying back to South Africa at great expense to collect it which is unlikely within the next 6 to 12 months.
