We are constantly told to trust the system and to follow the system and yet for me it’s another disappointment. To cut the story short my journey with the department of home affairs started 3 years ago. After discovering that the was a duplicate using my details when applying for an ID document. It took them nearly 2 and a half years to investigate this issue and give me a new ID number. In the middle of the year 2018 I was able to apply for a new ID with my new ID number and till today I have no ID. In the beginning of January this year I was informed that the was documentation missing that is why the was a delay on my application. On the same day I gave them these documents.

The thing that I don’t understand is that what is taking them so long because we are going into the third month of the year and I still don’t have an ID. Another thing is that am no ******** and I have the documentation to prove this and so do they via the confirmation letter.

My biggest frustration is that I have been losing out on countless number of employment opportunities because of not having documentation. Not only that but am also awaiting graduation this year and even that cannot proceed because I do not have an ID. I have spoken to some of the authorities dealing with ID issues at higher levels to try sort this out and even that has not worked. I don’t know what to do as my life is on hold and I am losing hope.
