Late/no response

I app**** for a permanent residence visa a year ago (22 September 2016) but have received no response since then. It has taken more than the prescribed time frame of 8-10 months. The current visa I have will soon be expiring and would love to at least know where my PR application stands before spending more money on a new application. If the processing of my application can be expedited I would greatly appreciate it.
