Lack of assistance guidance regarding marriage of an SA citizen to a foreigner
I have understanding for COVID limiting number of staff to attend to all the requests for documents, BUT what I experienced today was quite horrifying. I have not been to homeaffairs (HA) in 3 years and I have been trying to register online with ehomeaffairs since November 2020 to renew my passport with no luck. I get to a point where I need to download the documents to fill in and then no docs. I phone on a weekly basis to try and get through no luck. I sent emails with no response. Today I went to stand in queue from 6:30am to find out in person from HA what the process is for my daughter to get married to a Chinese national. THey live and work in Thailand but want to come and get married in April before returning to Thailand. After the outside queue of 1.5 hours and inside queue of 30 min at the marriage section I was "helped" by a young lady who had no understnading or care for what I was asking or provided me with no options other that tough this is the process they need to come and make an appointment for an interview themselves and then wait and see when they can get interviewed. I had certified copies of all their documents with me but she was so short and rude that I felt quite hopeless to be able to engage. She was not even able to explain the rest of the process after the interview as she advised we need to ask the interview person that. I find this totally unacceptable as HA is not reachable on any other platform than standing in queues the whole day. Surely we can have this process work better for us. The frustrations are high as we are powerless to do something about this other than cry out for human decency to try and help us,
