Identity document blocked
I am very dissappointed on how the system of Home affairs is faling us. And the bad service we are getting in Home Affairs branches with staff who seem not to know what they are doing.
This email is about my father who is 73 years. . My father is "VULNERABLE" as he is blind and a sick person. Unfortunately the ID in question green bar coded was washed dry cleanable sometime in 2023 and was damaged. On the month of September he went to Brakpan branch to do a new ID and application was processed, hoping a Smart card Id will be issued. On October a message was sent that it is rejected he must visit Brakpan branch again. In November he went to Brakpan branch and they only picked up the fingerprints were not taking but the application was processed still awaiting feedback.
Unfortunately his sassa card was damaged in December. On 08 January 2024 he went to do a sassa card on the easy pay branch they needed a new id as they cannot scan the damaged one, and was advised to do a temporary ID. On 09 January 2024 he went to Tsakane small branch of Home affairs and was advised his fingerprints are not reading, after doing ID photo's and was advised ID was still rejected with nk message to notify. Then the guy advised he must go to Brakpan and ask a manager.
After 31 years the manager is saying the ID number is blocked with no futher reason as to WHY ,WHEN,HOW and WHO blocked it. So it is still on investigation. Now she suggests affidavits must be done, marriage certificate, death certificate of deceased spouse and us as children to do affidavits. And she advised it can take about a year or more. I am not sure why all these documents are needed especially marriage, death and children affidavits with surname which is different. How is it all of this going to help. I don't think these documents are all necessary as they have nothing to do with the so called investigation as they say. Yes Affidavit for my father i would agree on it .
I am very dissappointed as this was not picked from the very first attempt, and second attempt in Brakpan. This is a huge issue of negligence and bad customer service. Imagine if he dies anytime that means a Death certificate won't be able to be issued. And we will be sitting with a very huge problem. This is the third time i am complaining with home affairs. I also had an ID wich was duplicated without my knowledge. "Kanti isebenza njani iSystem yase Home Affairs"
Now my father cannot access his sassa grant because of home affairs ID. We hired someone to take care of him as he needs to be monitored, there is no food no money to sustain him. So how is he going to survive while waiting for Home affairs to resolve this.
I know something for sure can be done while we are awaiting for this to be resolved. My REQUEST or PLEA ,Can you please do a confirmation letter or put something in writing so he can access his sassa grant until this is resolved.
