ID Documents

My experience with this dept. has been a rather painful one and I still cannot seem to get any assistance. My ID document was ****** and I am trying to get another one, i have been on the online services offered by the dept, but cannot get a booking for the local branches, the only bookings available are in towns out of Durban like Greytown, PMB, Vryheid etc. How does one move on in life without a ID document. there must be an easier way somehow to be able to get assistance, My life has come to a standstill at the moment.
