Horrible Attitude from Manager, Disrespectful and Rude.

I would like to report to you a very serious matter that took place outside Durban Commercial Home Affairs this morning between 07:15 to 07:35 involving my partner and I versus Mr Jabu Mgobhozi.

My partner and I woke up very early in the morning to apply for a birth certificate for our 9 days old baby girl, whom we had left at home with her grandmother. As we approached the line outside Commercial Home Affairs we noticed that other moms were carrying their babies therefore made us very curious if we should have done the same too, not being sure of this I went on to acquire information so that if this is the case I would go back home and fetch our baby girl so we can get help.

We saw a man wearing Home Affairs uniform standing at the robot therefore went on to ask him whether or not we should have came with our baby (as we were not sure). I got closer to him and excused myself to get his attention being polite and respectful as he was older than me. He than rudely sent me back to the line and proceeded to say that I must ask questions inside the premises not outside as he will not answer anything.

He crossed the road at the robot and took photos of the line near the entrance. I went back to the line behind my partner very disappointed, confused and not certain of what to do as the man was very rude, disrespectful and treated me so inhumanely. The ladies standing in front of us and behind were heart sour as they heard and saw that I was treated less than a human for just needing to ask such a simple question that required a yes or a no answer.

People around me advised me to take a photo of him and have him reported as they knew how disrespectful and rude he usually is to people. I did so when he came back from taking photos and approaching us as he was telling mothers to stand aside with their babies. He than rudely (again) spoke to me, asking why i'm taking pictures, asked me who I am to be taking pictures, threatening me whilst coming closer to my face intimidating me as if he wanted to hit me. He tried taking my phone and I just simply put it in my pocket.

He called all the mothers with their babies to follow him as he was taking them inside through a back entrance on Field Street, my partner and I followed as we also came for the same thing these mothers came for (application for new babies birth certificate). As we were approaching at the back of the line he slammed the badler guard on us saying we must go away and instructed the security guard to take us away from the premises. We left the place feeling disappointed, sad, very confused, not sure what to do as all we needed was information so we can apply for a birth certificate for our little baby.

Mr Mgobhozi treated us less than humans, he was rude, impulsive, short tempered, of no help as a person in management working with the public, very disrespect, threatening us and slammed the badler guard on us displaying that he had no intention to help us what so ever. Our questions are: Is this how Home Affairs managers treat people everyday? Is Mr Mgobhozi authorised and trained to act and treat people inhumanely by his superiors? Is this how Government employees sapose to treat law abiding citizens/the general public? Why such a simple question (that I did not even get the chance to ask) prompted a very rude response from this man?
