Home affairs - Winternest (Akasia, Pretoria) :We app**** for Surname changes for the kids after officially getting married back in January 2023. In January 2024 we went to check the update on the application and we were told there is a backlog and we should come back again after 3 months.

On 20th March 2024, we went back and we were given the same story after they checked on the system. When we asked if others who made changes last year whether they have been those who received their positive feedback and we were told Yes buts its only ours. We proceeded to ask why is our application not done, that's when we were sent from post to pillar. I then asked for the manager or supervisor and we were sent to Katlego who blatantly told us she is on lunch and we must wait for her to come back. I told her why we came to her office and this would just take 5min of her time since we have waited more than 15 months. She just left us standing there and gave us an attitude instead of been professional. This needs to be addressed because her colleagues were also afraid of her even though they wanted to assist. What we cannot afford is to re-apply and wait for another 12 months for these changes.

It is rude and typical of officials ill-trearing the same people they need to serve.
