Home Affairs Passport Application Grievance

To Whom It May Concern,

I am extremely disgruntled with the quality of service and inaccurate communication that I have been receiving from Home Affairs.

Last week Tuesday on the 20th of September I called Home Affairs to enquire about completing an online application for my passport as I had a business engagement to attend to outside the country. It was then communicated to me that the turn-around time for passports is 2-3 working days once the application has been completed. I was very pleased to hear this as I knew that my commitment would be met. I proceeded with the application for which my appointment for fingerprints and photo would be at Standard Bank ****arney Mall the following day, 21 September at 1pm.

Bearing the information that I was provided by Home Affairs in mind, I had anticipated that by latest Tuesday, the 27 of September 2016 I would I have my passport in hand.

Today I send this email having been in contact the past few days with the Home Affairs consultants and basically going nowhere slowly. Earlier this week it was communicated that my passport had printed and sitting with Quality Assurance since Tuesday and would probably be ready by Friday or Saturday. Today I call and am informed that it hasn’t been printed and the documents hare with Quality Assurance, have received a positive status, will be going to print and then only added to a dispatch list. The dispatch which is now estimated to arrive on Monday, the 03rd of October , latest Tuesday the 04th of October.

I am tired of being given the run-around and told that the information provided to me earlier has been inaccurate. Amendments to my travel arrangement have significant financial implication for which Home Affairs will not compensate.

This is beyond upsetting and unprofessional that people who work for the same department can be giving various versions of what has occurred.
