Went to Home Affairs in Bellville in October to get a confirmation letter of name change for my late moms lawyer. I was told that I have to wait 6 months to 1 year for this letter. This was already ridiculous to hear especially after I waited whole day outside in a line just to be told this nonsense.

I've tried calling, the lines were always busy, whole day. So, they clearly take the phones off the hook. I tried the call centre and was on hold for more than an hour on two occasions, still not getting any assistance. The other days holding for half an hour at a time, also with no assistance.

I've tried sending emails to the complaints email addresses and guess what? No replies at all!

The service is absolutely appalling! How do I wait so long for a letter like this??? Apparently they are not allowed to hit "reprint" on the system and need Auth from the Head Office??? When I asked can't you phone and ask because you can see the letter in the sys3, I was told no, you have to wait 6 months to 1 year if you want the letter. So why the hell does it take so long? Do you have any idea what the next person's situation is at the time then you are unprofessional not to even get back to en email???? And this your complaints department??? PATHETIC!
