Home Affairs is a joke

My son app**** for his first ID on 22/12/2023, we haven't had any feedback from Home Affairs since then. I've SMS'd the their supposed helpline on numerous occasions to no avail. Trying to get through to the call center is a nightmare due to calls being dropped after an automated message about call congestion. Calling our local Home Affairs branch gets you nowhere as the phone just rings with no one answering or calls are dropped after only a few rings.
