Just another utterly useless public institution which has become a poster child of our ******* failed ANC State.

My wife and I submitted applications for our Unabridged Birth and Marriage Certificates at the Paarl office on 2020.09.15. According to their website, applications take between 3 and 8 weeks to process. It has been almost 7 months without as much as a text message confirming that they have received our applications.

It is furthermore impossible to get hold of anyone at either the Home Affairs Head Office or the Paarl branch. Phones go unanswered for more than two hours at a time and emails get deleted without being read. I have gone as far as driving 100km and spending another 3 hours in the cue at the Paarl branch just to be told that we are busy processing the request.

To make matters worse I know of a family who app**** and received their certificates in less than a month because they paid a fast track fee (read bribe) of over R5k to get their documents processed in time for them to emigrate to a first world country.

We are being held hostage by these ************ and unashamedly ******* officials as they know that there is nobody holding them accountable for their ineptitude.
