Home Affairs cant deliver and keep your money even though are unable to do their job

I app**** and paid for a passport and ID card online thinking that this would make te experience quicker, however when I went to the Wynberg Home Affairs to complete the application I was turned away an hour and a half before it even opened. The reason for being turned away was due to Home Affairs putting up a sign saying they will not be processing any ID or passport applications due to high volumes. This has happened to me on 2 seperate occasions. As I have done the application online all that is left is to take the photo and fingerprints. So I contacted the Wynberg branch to try and resolve this only to be informed that there is nothing to do except queue. However if I am unable to complete my application in the time they have deemed appropriate they keep (*****) the money you have paid. An exceptional **** to get money, promise a service and then claim you are too busy but keep the money.

This is an absolute joke that the department can keep your money for being unable to deliver on the service you have paid for. So I then enquired on how to cancel and get reimbursed. I was first told it would take at least 3 months and then when I enquired about the process I was told it can only be done due to a department error. After that response I asked if not being able to fulfil their obligations is not a good enough reason to cancel and reimburse to which I stopped receiving responses.

It is absolutely disgusting that when you pay for a service they merely decide on various days they will not provide this service without any regard for the individuals who need this completed. And what is even worse is that when you question how to rectify you are ignored.
