Government delivering disappointing service, guess this is the norm

If I could I would give them a zero. I app**** for my ID card on 1 August 2024. I am still waiting to hear back. I have phoned and apparently it has been escalated but when I check it is still in processing and no one can give me an idea of how much longer or if there is an issue that needs to be addressed. Highly disappointed in a Department that is boasting about the progress it is apparently making.
